Sarah Gorman, Law Clerk
B.Soc.Sc., Conc. in Criminology and Sociology

Sarah graduated from the University of Ottawa with Baccalaureate in Social Sciences (double concentration) in both Criminology and in Sociology in 2001. Sarah went on to complete the Law Clerk program through The Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario at Algonquin College.
Sarah began her career as a Real Estate Law Clerk with James M. Bond in February 2003 after having worked with Mr. Bond and the firm of Bond, March, Anderson, Edmundson-Mosher as a student during her high school years. In addition to working with Mr. Bond, Sarah began clerking for Scott B. Hughes in 2006 when the two lawyers formed the firm of Bond & Hughes. Bond & Hughes merged with the law firm of Barker Willson Professional Corporation on August 1, 2019, at which time Sarah also began clerking on real estate transactions for S. Craig Halpenny, and Michael P. Reid. Although real estate has always been Sarah’s true passion, she has recently accepted a new challenge and is working with Byron J. Cavanaugh in our Family Law department while maintaining a specialized real estate file workload for Scott B. Hughes. Sarah areas of expertise over the course of her Law Clerk career to date include:
• Residential Real Estate (including preparing Agreements of Purchase and Sale, completing purchase,
sale, and Charge refinance transactions);
• Real Property title corrections and conversions from the Land Registry System to the Land Titles
System;
• Severances;
• Title Insurance Claims;
• Site Plan Control Agreements and Development Agreements;
• Power of Sale and Foreclosure transactions;
• Estate related Real Property Conveyancing;
• Estates, Wills, and Powers of Attorney, as well as Multiple Wills (dealing with corporate assets), and
Henson Trusts;
• Corporate Commercial Transactions;
• Civil Litigation and Small Claims Court matters; and
• Family Law.
Sarah is a an Associate member of The Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario and a member of The Ottawa
Association of Law Clerks.
