John R. O’Connor completed his undergraduate degree at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He continued at Queen’s University, graduated with his Bachelor of Laws Degree and was called to the Bar in 1993. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the County of Lanark Law Association and the Leeds and Grenville Law Association.

After brief periods in Toronto and Southwestern Ontario, John returned to his roots in Eastern Ontario to join Barker Willson at their Westport Office. His practice primarily includes Real Estate (Recreational, Rural, Residential and Commercial), Wills, Powers of Attorney, Estate
Administration, as well as Business and Corporate Law.

He is the former Treasurer of the Canadian Cancer Society ( Rideau Branch) and remains active in supporting the fundraising efforts of the many worthwhile community organizations in Westport and the surrounding area.

When not practising law, John enjoys spending time with his family at their homestead that was severed from his Grandfather’s farm property just outside of Westport. It was the natural beauty of the region that drew him back to work and live in this area. So whenever he gets the chance, John likes to get out to kayak, hike, golf, photograph and enjoy the stunning natural environment we are blessed with in this region.
